Lead alert consent

How a client opts in, word for word, and what happens before any text is sent.

This page is for carriers and for anyone checking how Dropped Pin collects permission to text a business owner. It is not a signup form. There is no way for a member of the public to enrol, and nobody is enrolled by contacting Dropped Pin.

1. Who receives these messages

Only the owner of a business that has signed a written service agreement with Dropped Pin, and only at a mobile number that owner supplied and confirmed during onboarding.

Recipients are not consumers, and they are not their own business's customers. The message tells an owner that someone filled in the contact form on the website Dropped Pin builds and hosts for them, so the owner can return the call.

There is no public opt-in path and there is no list to join. A member of the public cannot enrol, cannot enrol somebody else, and is never sent one of these messages.

2. The disclosure, word for word

This is read to the owner on the onboarding call and sent to them in writing, at the point where they give the mobile number. It is the same text quoted in the campaign registration.

Dropped Pin sends you one text per enquiry, to this number. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Terms and Conditions: droppedpin.co/terms. Privacy Policy: droppedpin.co/privacy. Full program terms: droppedpin.co/sms.

The privacy policy states that no mobile information, phone number, or messaging consent is sold, rented, shared, or provided to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

3. The six steps before a message is sent

In order. A lead alert cannot be sent to a number that has not completed all six, and that refusal is enforced in code rather than by procedure.

  1. The owner signs the Dropped Pin service agreement. Signing alone does not opt them in to anything.
  2. On the onboarding call the owner is shown the disclosure in section 2 and gives the mobile number they want enquiry notifications sent to. This is a separate question from their published business line, which is often a landline.
  3. The owner states that they agree to receive those notifications at that number. How and when they agreed is written down against their record.
  4. The number is checked against Twilio Lookup to confirm it is a real US mobile that can receive a text.
  5. A single test alert is sent to that number, and the owner confirms out loud that it arrived. Until they do, the record stays unverified.
  6. Only then does the contact form on the owner's website begin sending. Any enquiry submitted before this point is stored and the owner is alerted by another route; none of it is texted.

4. What is recorded, and where

Three separate facts are stored against the client record before the first message, and they are deliberately not the same field.

Authorisation is a fact about a person and verification is a fact about a phone. Both are required, because confirming that a test message arrived is not the same as agreeing to receive lead alerts from then on.

5. How an owner stops it

Reply STOP to any lead alert. STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT and REVOKE all work, and so does asking in plain words. Reply START to resume.

Reply HELP, email auesugui@droppedpin.co, or call (346) 795-1477 to reach a person.

An owner can also ask to have lead alerts switched off entirely, in which case enquiries reach them by email instead and no further text is sent.
